Long Distance Love

Meet Da'Mar and Jenna! We had the pleasure of shooting this playful engagement session, in the middle of the Covid-19 quarantine. Don't worry.. we didn't break any laws! You see, Jenna came down from Ohio to visit right before they issued the stay at home order. We have a guest house that she is currently staying at on our property, so we are all quarantined together! (Lucky!)

Their sweet love story began 3 years ago in Cincinnati, where they met, working at a local church together. The true test of their relationship was last Easter, when Da'Mar moved to Louisiana for a new job, and so began a long distance romance. In February, Da'Mar flew up and planned a surprise proposal in front of their friends and family, with an engagement party to follow (So romantic!) Now.. here they are!

We headed to downtown Lafayette, LA, and took advantage of the empty city scene. Our goal was to use the building textures and colorful textiles that downtown offers to create contrast. One of our favorite pops of color is the bluish turquoise tile outside of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana building! This shoot definitely was a little challenging, since one of the persons, (We won't name names) was not very game for photos. But, with a little coaxing and some reassuring words, we were able to capture some awesome content! Their genuine smiles and laughter were constant through every frame. The best part, was being able to capture the tender glances and soft moments, .. sweet memories made. And to think.. they weren't going to get to do engagements being so far apart!
